According to previous reports, the WeChat pure-blooded HarmonyOS version of the app began to invite internal testing in October last year, and users who upgraded to the original HarmonyOS operating system, HarmonyOS NEXT, can experience it early after receiving the invitation. The "early version" of WeChat already includes basic social messaging, audio and video calls, Moments, WeChat Pay QR code receipt/payment, and other functions, and has been updated 1.0.3.40 today to fix the issue that some chat history pictures cannot be viewed.
This is a huge shift going on in the Chinese market with the arrival of HarmonyOS Next ahead of the official 10th February launch and open source OpenHarmony with the arrival of the top apps available on AppGallery. And the rest of the globe looks forward to localised and international app ecosystem developments with Oniro and HarmonyOS Next soon commercially and FOSS.
